The CVRD has announced a series of Water Open Houses, starting Feb 6 at Lake Cowichan; Feb. 8 at Island Savings Centre (Duncan); Feb. 13 at Kerry Park; and Feb. 15th at Frank Jameson Community Centre. All meetings run from 3-5 pm and 6-8pm. Placespeak input will be received from Feb. 5.
The CVRD is looking for, “input on possible options for a drinking water and watershed protection service for the region. The public’s input and further recommendations will be considered by the Regional Series Committee at its March 28th meeting.” By “region”, we assume they mean the whole of the CVRD. However, for us it could mean Saltair, Ladysmith, the Diamond and Yellow Point. We hope more details will be forthcoming.
The Feb 15th Open House at the Frank Jameson Community Centre will not necessarily be about our filtration requirement or the money spent on the possibility of supplying water to Saltair from wells, but it could be about this if enough citizens attend and ask pertinent questions. If you have any insights in this regard, please share them with SWAC or by sending a comment to this site.
Thanks. See you there!
