For the past few months, Saltair News and Views has been asking, “Should Saltair citizens have a vote (a referendum) about spending Saltair property tax and grant money on renovating the Saltair Community Centre?” We received 63 responses. 81% (51 responders) said, “Yes.” 11% (11 respondents) said, “No.”
This was the second poll we took asking whether Saltair citizens wanted a vote about spending property tax and grant money on renovating the old school building. Unfortunately, we discovered it was possible for individuals to vote more than once. We changed our security settings to prevent this and started a new poll. Those results are above. The less secure, original poll said 86% of the respondents wanted a referendum about spending tax and grant money on the old school building.
Both these polls followed a poll taken at a public meeting on October 19, 2016. 82% of those respondents did not believe there was an immediate need for a community centre in Saltair, 81% had no interest in using the SCC and 63% did not think taxpayers should fund the Saltair Community Centre.
